Cedarburg Sweep For Stinger Unleashed’s Zane Rettew
August 7, 2018
The fans at the Ozaukee County Fair were treated to two awesome shows on a Sunday afternoon to close out the county fair. The day started off right with Stinger Unleashed going near vertical on a wheelie attempt, followed by a picture-perfect donut to take the win in the Best Trick competition.
After giving away the winner plaque to a lucky fan in the stands, Rettew would strap back in to make his first of two obstacle course racing passes. Just before Stinger Unleashed hit the track, Jamey Garner in Over Bored would set a new low time of 23.54 seconds. Once the lights turned green for Stinger Unleashed, Rettew laid down a fast-paced run, stopping the clock at 23.20 seconds, and securing first place after round one of the obstacle course.
Paul Strong was piloting Master of Disaster this weekend, and also put up two great efforts in the obstacle course, however neither of the times would be enough to put the Master of Disaster in the winner’s circle.
After all of the other teams made their second attempt, the time would not be enough to beat Stinger Unleashed, allowing Rettew to take the win without having to run in the second round.
In freestyle, Master of Disaster would go out first and make an aggressive attack on the course, which would place Young in third place. Zane Rettew finished the freestyle competition, and right out of the gate would launch Stinger Unleashed to the biggest air of the day, followed by several more hits before Rettew would shut the truck down and be declared the winner, earning himself a clean sweep of the first show.
In between shows, mechanical issues would arise on Stinger Unleashed, and the entire team worked feverishly to get a new rear end put into the truck after discovering a broken third member. All of the team’s hard work would pay off when Rettew would go on to open the second show in the same fashion as earlier, with a huge sky wheelie followed by an intense donut, taking another Best Trick win.
In the obstacle course, mechanical issues would plague the Stinger Unleashed machine, leaving Strong to carry the Rettew Motorsports name through the second competition of the day solo. While two sub-30 second passes would keep Master of Disaster in the running, it would ultimately be the Over Bored team taking the win.
In freestyle, Strong would again set the pace in Master of Disaster, and his effort would be enough to put him in second place at the end. Rettew would bring Stinger Unleashed out to close the show, but after a few big hits, the truck's rear-steering would go away, forcing Rettew to only make left turns. After a few more hits, including one in reverse, Zane would shut the truck off, taking third place for his effort, and third place overall in the show.
