Stinger Unleashed Sits On Top After Albany
January 14, 2019
The first weekend of the year is in the books for Stinger Unleashed and Pretty Wicked after the Times Union Center in Albany, NY played host to the first stop of the Monster Jam Arena Championship Series (AT4). Coming into the weekend with a brand new Stinger Unleashed, Zane Rettew wasn’t sure if he’d be able to wheel the new piece like he did his old truck, but it didn’t take long to make those nerves disappear, as Zane opened up the weekend with a runner-up racing finish before a 3rd place Two-Wheel Skills, 1st place Donut Competition, and 2nd place Freestyle would land Stinger Unleashed the Overall Event Championship!
In the second show of the day, the new Stinger Unleashed truck made sure its presence was known in front of the Albany fans. In the first half of the show, Zane battled through the bracket to another runner-up finish in the final round of racing and secured a 2nd place finish in Two-Wheel Skills. After intermission, it was absolute domination, with Zane putting Stinger Unleashed in the winner’s circle in both Donuts and Freestyle, and winning a second Overall Event Championship.
When the final event of the weekend rolled in, Stinger Unleashed would once again make an appearance in the final round of racing, though Zane would once again have to settle for runner-up. Two-Wheel Skills didn’t go as planned for Stinger Unleashed, with the attempt only good enough to finish in 6th position. Once again however, after the intermission ended, Stinger Unleashed lit up the Times Union Center and dominated, winning the Donut Competition and Freestyle before the event was over. Despite the strong second-half performance, it was only enough for 2nd place in the Overall Event Points.
In the debut of Pretty Wicked, Lindsey Rettew would make a strong opening effort, but the fan vote scoring system just wasn’t in her favor. Already thinking about next weekend, Lindsey hopes to make more new fans and get some higher scores on the board.
Rettew Motorsports now rolls south to Hampton, VA, where Zane Rettew in Stinger Unleashed will enter the weekend with a 12-point lead over his closest challenger while sitting in 1st place on the Monster Jam Arena Championship Series.
