Early Season Success Continues For Stinger Unleashed
January 28, 2020
Two more weeks of competition are in the books for Rettew Motorsports after wrapping up events with Monster Jam in Louisville, KY and Monster X Tour in Rocky Mount, NC.
After a strong start to the season, the team traveled to Louisville, KY for a pair of Monster Jam events. In the first show Lindsey Rettew, driving El Toro Loco, didn’t win any competitions, but her consistency paid off as she would put 16 points on the board to finish 3rd in the Overall Event Standings. Zane Rettew would finish one spot behind in 4th, with 15 points, bringing home wins in the Great Clips Skills Challenge, and the Donut Competition.
The second event of the weekend went better for Zane, as he once again took the Donut Competition win along with a Freestyle win to bring home the Overall Event Championship with 19 points. Lindsey was able to come away with 11 points for 5th place after an early exit in Racing, and solid performances in the Skills, Donut, and Freestyle competitions.
Next up, the hauler headed south to Rocky Mount, NC for some more Monster X Tour events. Only Stinger Unleashed was competing for Rettew Motorsports, but that didn’t stop Zane from thrilling the fans and winning all across the board. On Friday night, it was another event sweep for Stinger Unleashed, as Zane picked up all three element wins, dominating in the 2-Wheel Challenge, Donut Contest, and Freestyle.
In the first of two shows on Saturday, Zane came up second in the 2-Wheel Challenge and followed that up with another second place finish in Racing, which replaced the Donut Competition. In freestyle, Zane was determined not to leave the event without a win, and he did just that, taking the freestyle trophy, and entering the final event of the weekend as the front-runner. The final event of the weekend went much like the first, with a clean sweep of the event once again by Stinger Unleashed, winning the 2-Wheel Challenge, Racing, and Freestyle. In total, Zane drove Stinger Unleashed to 7 of 9 available wins, and left the crowds in Rocky Mount, NC with something to talk about.
In between events, the Rettew Motorsports crew has been busy in the shop working on our upcoming projects. The new body for Bearly Tame showed up from the incredible crew at Starr Creations down in Florida. The team also purchased a second trailer to haul a second set of trucks around for the summer events.
Next up, we head to Florence, SC for some more Monster Jam and then on to Biloxi, MS.
